Video Transcript:

Hi, my name is Sander Coovert, I’m with Absolute, a granite and quartz manufacturer in St. Louis, Missouri. Today’s video is about the granite industry. I’ve found that many of my customers don’t know very much about where granite comes and they really like to hear about the process.

So, there are basically three parts to the granite industry. There are quarries, and there are quarries in almost every country in the world that harvest some form of natural stone. You’ve heard of French Limestone, Italian Marble, Mexican Travertine, Brazilian Granite, etc. So the quarries harvest the stone in huge blocks from the mountains in their respective countries. Then those blocks are pared down into slabs, polished, and prepared for shipping.

The second part to the industry are the importers, and for instance there are 7 or 8 importers in St. Louis who purchase all of this material from all these different quarries and bring it here to St. Louis for distribution.

The third and most important part of the granite industry are the fabricator, and that’s what Absolute is. We work with our customers to pick out the right material, measure, cut, and install the product.

I hope this has been very informative for you today. Feel free to reach out to us at our email address if you have any other questions and we’ll see you next month!
